It's been an interesting past couple weeks. Work has, of course, been eating up most of my time, but not enough to keep me from doing important things with my family. Mika and I decided we'd take Miyuki to her first Hina Matsuri this year. Mika had gone and picked out two new kimonos for the occasion--Miyuki's is red with orange carp swimming around it. Tomajiro got a new one, but he'll wear it on Boy's Day.

The festival itself was nice. It was nice to get away from work. I had a few people recognize me [when I took off my sunglasses], but I dismissed them quite quickly. Miyuki was quite intrigued with the hina-ningyo set up at the front of the festival. She really seemed to be attached to the Mebina doll. We bought an entire set for her, and an extra Kozutsumi for Tomajiro, Mebina for Miyuki.

The festival practice hina-okuri. We helped the twins make a couple previously when we researched this. Miyuki cried when we had to sail the doll off on the water, but Tomajiro thought it was the funniest thing and kept asking to do it again.

We sat and had some of the food there. Miyuki wouldn't touch the green Hishimochi, but rather adored the white Hishimochi. Mika and I had some chirai-zushi and shirozake. We decided to save a couple hina-arare cakes for tomorrow's dessert.

Miyuki and Tomajiro had sung a few words of the Hina Matsuri theme song fine. All together:

Akari o tsukemashou bonbori ni
明かりをつけましょう ぼんぼりに
Ohana o agemashou momo no hana
お花をあげましょう 桃の花
Go-nin bayashi no fue taiko
五人ばやしの 笛太鼓
Kyo wa tanoshii Hinamatsuri
今日は楽しいひな祭り

All in all, the night was eventful and the twins had fun.

Ryuichi's birthday was soon to follow. As usual, Ukai-san and I invited him to our local pub for some drinks for a couple hours. Sakuma-san told us all about his time with Tatsuha, Shindou-kun and the gifts he received. He was particularly over-excited when Ukai-san ordered him a Shirley Temple with five cherries in it. We told him that was our form of a birthday cake, ha ha. We had only been there for a few hours. Ukai-san left after Sakuma-san. I came home last; everyone was in bed when I got home.

Back to work... New contracts to sign, older ones to break.

Noriko-san seems to be throwing me a party. I do believe Mika is going to be helping her. I'm not sure, but that's what the rumor mill in the neighborhood is passing around.

Ah, Miyuki threw up on my briefcase. It was actually quite... cute. ^_^

Life here in the household hasn't been too big a contrast from my work environment the past few weeks. Amazingly enough, everyone is keeping up on their toes and making sure to tie all loose ends. I've done more paper work lately than interaction with my clients and business associates. I could definitely tell that the first week or so after my children were born, everyone would walk on flower petals around me. Not that I'm complaining, mind you. It kept me from showing any of my so-called rumored "nasty side." *chuckle*

Beyond the peace, my children seem to be doing more work than I. It's quite interesting. The constant flow of flowers, gifts [both for Mika, the children and myself] and all too sugar coated sweet compliments never ceases to run dry. I've had companies that sponsor baby products call Mika and I, wanting to use our children as their spokes-babies. From doing diaper commercials to even having our own line of baby bottles. Who knew having children would result into such fruitful business.

However, because they're still very young, I told some of the companies to wait. My children are my children, not meat slabs for the public to view. If they want to use them in their products, then they know best to be patient and wait. ^_^

I believe Mika's stress level has also been brought down by a notch, as well as mine. She seems to be very content with Tomajiro and Miyuki. Ah, and we've also been getting visitors almost everyday. Quite relaxing for all of us.

However, despite the tranquil atmosphere, I had to run a few errands myself.

Babies are such a nice way to start people. -Don Herrold [Jul. 27th, 2004|01:12 pm]

It's been a long time, hasn't it? But I've finally returned back from my "vacation" (we will call it such to keep the post in my journal from straying a lighthearted attitude) in New York. I hadn't originally planned to be gone for so long. If I had had it my way, I probably would have never left Mika after she begged me not to go. But a few things came up on aforementioned vacation that I had to deal with.

I hadn't been able to keep much communication from my family or friends. The business going on up their kept me on my toes and my hands away from any phone or computer or the likes. I did manage to make a couple calls to a few people, but time has passed since then and they were so rare, I can't quite remember who exactly I did call.

When I got back, I came home to a couple surprises. My children had been born. I know we didn't want an ultrasound to surprise us, but it came as a big shock, I must say, to discover the one child I had been talking to those few nights I was with Mika in her belly were actually two.

A beautiful boy and a beautiful girl. Everyone says that the boy takes after me, and the girl after Mika. When I got there, I got to see Eiri. He was holding my children, and he had even given them their names.

I, regretfully, didn't get to spend too long with my new children and wife. I had to finish up some business I left behind. I got a hold of Ukai-san and Sakuma-san, and told them the good news and also asked about any updates on NG while I was gone.

I also got to speak briefly with Uesugi-jiisan. He told me the news of Tatsuha-kun joining the Reikami Buddhist college that isn't too far away from here. He asked me to make sure I helped Tatsuha-kun out if need be and to make sure he, nor Eiri, slack off.

Oh~ yes!

I attempted to call Eiri again, but he didn't answer his phone. Either he had been gone or was just ignoring me. Haha! But I am quite used to Eiri and his anti-social behavior. Perhaps later I'll try again--if not, I'll visit.

Here's a little bit of information that may be interesting: up in my vacation, I had flipped through a maternity magazine for expecting parents. I read an article on how to change a diaper. I think Mika was a little surprised when I rolled up my sleeves and went about easily changing the children's diapers. I couldn't help but laugh, feeling like the mother out of this relationship.

Oh, and that bit of information cannot leave this journal. Should anyone go and tell my fellow colleagues about this, I'll kill you.

No, I'm just kidding. ^__^
